About this tag
A solid brass ID tag for your dog or cat, deep engraved with your pet's name on the front and your contact details on the back. It's made to be read at a glance, and to stay that way.
Deep engraved, not printed
Every letter is cut into the brass rather than printed on the surface. You can see and feel the depth, so the details stay crisp. At 2mm thick the tag has a reassuring weight without dragging on the collar, and the brushed finish gives it a soft, warm sheen that suits leather and fabric collars alike.
Not just for pets
The same tag makes a smart luggage tag, key tag, keepsake or memorial tag, or a winner's tag for a trophy or prize. For larger orders, including sets with different text on each tag, just get in touch.

- Solid brass with a brushed finish, 2mm thick
- 25mm, 30mm or 35mm diameter
- Engraved on both sides, up to four lines per side, dark or natural finish
- Flat-faced brass split ring and jump ring included
- Laser-engraved to order in our Norfolk workshop
Size and fit
25 mm suits cats and small dogs. 30 mm is the usual choice for most dogs. 35 mm gives more room for larger breeds or a longer phone number. Every tag comes with a flat-faced brass split ring and a jump ring.
What we engrave
Text is engraved exactly as you type it, including capitals. We do not correct spelling or spacing, so check the preview before ordering. Up to four lines per face; the more lines, the smaller the text. If the layout you type would engrave small, we may rearrange it, using up to five or six lines, so the text is as large and readable as possible.
Delivery
Order by 2pm on a working day for same-day engraving and dispatch. Delivery options and costs are shown at checkout.
Care
Brass darkens with handling. A wipe with a dry cloth brings the shine back; the engraving stays legible either way.
Engraved in our small UK workshop in Norfolk. Brass blanks are sourced from established suppliers abroad.
Before you order
What to put on a pet tag.
It's your tag, so we'll engrave whatever you like, exactly as you type it. If you'd like a starting point, this is what most owners go for.
- Front Usually your pet's name. Some owners leave it off and put "I'm microchipped" or a second phone number instead.
- Back A phone number is the quickest way to get a lost pet home. Most add their surname, house number and postcode too.
- The law In England, Scotland and Wales, the Control of Dogs Order 1992 says a dog out in public should wear its owner's name and address, on its collar or a tag. There's no such rule for cats.
- Space Up to four lines on each side, about 60 characters in all.
- Other uses They make good keyrings, luggage tags, gift labels and memorial tags too.

Absolutely perfect little dog tag for our pup Charlie.
